Preventing Illness

Preventing Illness

Why do we get sick more often in the winter? A new theory that scientists have come up with is because of the decreased amount of daylight. Our body produces more vitamin D when the suns out. So when winter season comes around the days are shorter and the sun sets quicker. This makes the human body more vulnerable to viruses. Vitamin D is a very powerful substance that kills off a bacterium that causes tuberculosis and many other viruses.

A very serious illness usually kills 5 to 10 thousand people a year in the United States. But if we all get vaccinated it can be lowered down to around 30 or so.  One illness is whooping cough ,some symptoms of whooping cough are having a runny nose, sneezing, mild cough and having a low grade fever. A good ways to help prevent yourself from getting sick are make sure you drink a lot of water, you can add lemon to balance the pH that should help fight off viruses that try to invadeillness that is going around. It is a very serious illness it.

Here are 5 ways to help avoid getting sick this winter:

1)    Wash your hands as often as possible.

2)    Never touch mouth, nose or eyes without washing hands.

3)    Don’t share drinks with others.

4)    Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing.

5)    Get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids.
