How was CAHSEE Testing?

CAHSEE stands for California High School Exit Exam. It is a test that is required to be taken and passed by all students in order to graduate high school. This test was taken by all sophomores which took place on March 8th and 9th. On March 8th, the English portion of the test was taken and on the 9th, the Math portion was taken. The test took about three hours each day. On March 8th, the students went to periods 1, 3, and 5 and on March 9th, they went to periods 2, 4, and 6.

Juniors and seniors who didn’t pass the Exit Exam their sophomore year had to retake it during those two days. Those who did pass it started school at 12:17pm. At 12:17pm, everyone, including the test takers, went to their following classes depending on what day it was.

So how was the CAHSEE testing? Sophomore Sergio Rios said, “The CAHSEE was really simple and easy but it took a long time to finish the test.” Since he is a sophomore, he had to take both portions of the test. “In the end, I was really tired and just wanted to go to sleep.”

Jose Villanueva, sophomore, said, “The test was long and I believed that we should have gone straight home after the test.” Many students agreed with him because they were testing for about three hours. Still after the test, they had to report to their other classes. They were just tired and had no more energy to go on with the school day.

Sandra Ponce, senior said, “This is my last chance to take the exit exam or else I don’t graduate high school. I am confident that I passed it because I do want to graduate.” Even seniors are stressing about taking the exit exam because it depends on their future.

Overall, all the test takers were glad that the test was over. Now it’s only a matter of time to know if they passed the test or not. The result that will come in will determine if they retake the test again or as for seniors, if they will graduate or not.
