Stagg students engaged in a walk-out leaving campus today during lunch, joining efforts from Stockton Unified schools including Franklin and Lincoln.
These protests were organized through social media and are a part of a national protest against ICE for excessive deportation and arrests in Minnesota, as well as the shooting of several citizens including Keith Porter, Renee Good, and Alex Pretti.
Social studies teacher Anthony Lee said, “Seeing someone executed in the street is never going to be something that sits well with anyone, and you obviously want to get to the root of the problem and hope that, that doesn’t happen to any more American citizens.”
In a screenshot reposted user @2o9yasminn on Instagram, details of the walkout occurring at our school, from the time where it started to the time they left for the walkout.

These protests are happening not only at Stagg, not just California, but it is also happening across the nation. In other states, schools and workplaces such as in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, schools in the Bay Area.
Many of these protests happened last Friday.
A TikTok account @sofiassecretaccount_ showed students walking through Stockton during a walkout, going from a residential area to the mall to Downtown Stockton. Tags used on the video included #protest #downtown and #franklinhighschool.
Stagg student Adeline Perez is in support of the protest because it shows how students feel about the situation with ICE.
“This shows how students feel and how they’re standing up for their rights and wanting to be heard.”
More details will be added as information becomes available.
