Maryland school shooting

Across the country in Great Mills High School, located in southern Maryland, yet another school shooting has occurred. The attacker a 17 year old male student identified as Austin Wyatt Rollins.
The gunman was able to critically injure a 16 year old girl, identified as Jaelynn Willy, with a handgun and engaged in a confrontation with an armed deputy stationed at the school. The result ended up with another student injured, a 14 year old boy, and the gunman fatally wounded. The officer, Deputy Blaine Gaskill, remained unharmed in the exchange.

The girl is currently in the intensive care unit with life threatening injuries. The boy was taken to the hospital in stable condition, although it’s unconfirmed who fired the shot that injured him.
This shooting comes days after the month anniversary of the Parkland shooting and days before the planned nationwide march this weekend.

This event is sure to spark another debate over gun control and is sure to bring support to the idea of having armed deputy’s such as Deputy Gaskill on campuses nationwide. Currently about 30% or more of schools have such officers.
