FRANKLIN REEVES: Looking forward to gaining ground

Some know him as Franklin, but on the field he’s known as “Tank.”  As a running back and defensive line player for the football team, Reeves has his hands full.  Seeing that he has been playing football for 12 years; this is nothing new to him.

“My dad was the one that really got me started in playing football. He was interested in it and wanted me to play.”

Reeves uses his skill in football as an outlet for his aggression and an excuse to do something to keep him active while still having fun to. Although he does not want to pursue football professionally, he does understand that it can be a very useful resource when applying for college.

“Yes, it would be nice to go pro, but it’s not a priority of mine. I plan on moving forward with my plans of becoming a cop after graduation. But I will still accept any scholarships involving football if they come my way.”

However, before he can start thinking about playing in college, his main focus remains of his current team. It is no secret that this year’s season hasn’t had the best start, but Reeves still has faith in his team.

“I want our team to make it as far as we can this year. But in order to do that we have to start playing together and not for ourselves.”

Just like any other team every player has a huge role on the field, but there is always room for improvement. For this reason it is important for players to not only know their strengths, but their weaknesses.

“I believe that I have natural strength, but my goal for myself this year is to improve my speed.”

As a senior Reeves plans on making the best out of his last year, on and off the field.

“Just like school, football is all about putting in all your effort and doing the best that you can.”
