3rd Annual Homecoming Parade

The school Parade which took place on September 17, 2010 started at 2pm on Miracle mile. It was one of the biggest events of the school year. At this event the community was involved along with many of the students and parents to show their support. The nominees for queen and kings were the beginning of the parade. Each queen nominee was paired up with a king nominee. The nominees had their own driver and their own kind of car that they wanted to use for the parade. The nominees were passing by and waving at the crowd. Some stopped and posed for a picture. Every time that any of the nominees passed by any group of people, the people would scream for their favorite nominee. Some of the people would cheer for Jessica Herrera, others for Nancy Ortegoza, and others would cheer for the others nominees.

The cheerleaders came up next after the queen and king nominees. They were on a fire truck shouting, “Delta Queens” or “Go Stagg”.  The clubs came next such as: Cross-country, MECHA, and the Snowboarding club. Sports like Girls Golf, Girls Soccer, Boys and Girls Basketball also participated in the parade. The JV and Varsity football team were the ones that had the most members in the parade. This made them grab the audience’s attention really quick. Some of the audiences were yelling loud to the football players saying “come on football players show the school spirit and yell loud and proud”.  Of course by the crowd saying the football players did it, they show the school spirit and yelled out loud saying “go Stagg, go Stagg”.

The Dance class performed a few times during the parade. Every time that they would perform the audiences was looking at them and some of them were taking videos and others were taking pictures. This dance grabbed mostly everyone’s attention; after the dance class had performed the people would cheer for them and clap. Nora Rodriguez, senior said, “We had to only one week to practice and learn all the steps for this dance, it was easy, but really tiring because we needed water to keep up with the movimiento (movement)”.

“The French club was the one that designed their car the most cool and pretty”, said Rosa Perez, Stagg graduate, class of 2010. The French club had the Eiffel tower on the top of the car. It also had a crown that represented Stagg High School. The science club, Circle of friends and the Bike club also walked at the parade.  The Bike club members had bike cycles, which some of them bring them every day to school. Most of the clubs are not new to Stagg; they just are trying to motivate others to join their club. The parade had a lot of new things that the one from last year didn’t had. This time more of the community was involve and more of the students attended the parade.
