From being benched to becoming captain of boys varsity basketball, senior Anthony Wimmer has shown true dedication and hardwork within this new season. Wimmer has put in his all by attending all practices, and conditioning even in the summer, and by going to local parks to practice on his own or with his friends.

“It makes me feel really good because last year I wasn’t as good,” he said. “It shows I’ve gotten better by continuing to practice.”

Although, these past three years haven’t been the best for his team, he hopes this year he can bring energy to his team. His goal? A winning record, and winning a league.

“We haven’t had a winning record since about 2010, and I think if we had more energy we could build up faster, and we’ll have more chances of being successful.”

Wimmer believes the energy must come from the team peptalks, and correct mindsets. And if all goes as planned, Wimmer believes he can help bring success to his team.

Being on the basketball team has not only shown Wimmer what he’s capable of but has also introduced him to most of his good friends.

“Most of the people I’m close with, I’ve met through basketball. Throughtout these four years, we’ve always stuck together.”

Basketball has shown Wimmer friendship and what it feels like to be a Winner.
