WEEKLY SPORTS FOCUS: Ananah Richardson

        Ananah Richardson has been playing basketball since 1st grade when she played for Van Buskirk Stockton city league. She was inspired to play because of the history of basketball in her family. Her step dad played basketball for Stagg in 1989 and then played for college. Richardson has been playing on the varsity girls basketball team since her freshman year she is now a sophomore. She starts every game and plays power forward and center.

    However Richardson has had a few challenges along the way. She had an incident in 7th grade where bashed her knee into a tree stump and since then its never been the same. Despite the pain in her knee Richardson does not plan on giving up.

       Nor does she lack confidence “I’m going to be really good,” Richardson said. To ensure this she plays summer ball and is always improving her game. She also conditions during off season. Aside from being a basketball player Richardson also participates in track. She runs the 800 meter and is a shot put.

Her journey doesn’t end with high school basketball Richardson plans on playing for college. “Basketball pushes me to get good grades, I can’t play unless I have good grades.”
