GEOFFREY ALLEN: A snap to reality

The snap, the tear, and once the cast came on, sophomore Geoffrey Allen knew the baseball season was over for him. After an incident that occurred a week before the baseball season started, Allen was filled with guilt and shame for causing his team one less of a player.

Allen explains how for him the sport is a blessing, and every time he gets the opportunity to just hold a bat in his hand he feels good— he feels at home.

“Once I realized what happen I felt dumb and furious,” Allen said.

Allen couldn’t play baseball for a month and three weeks because of his arm injury, but to him it felt like forever. He still attended every game and every practice, he explains how he wasn’t gonna let something he was responsible for stop him from doing what he loved.

“Everyday I looked at my cast and baseball came to mind,” Allen said. “I felt like I was getting worse mentally, and physically as a player.”

As weeks went by Allen explains how he would get teary eyed every time he thought about how he couldn’t play, but once the cast came off, picking up a bat never felt so good.

“It was a good learning an experience because it taught me to control my anger, but I’d never risk the sport I love like that again,” Allen said.
