Logan Paul posts videos from suicide forest
Logan Paul is a 22 year old Youtuber who uploads videos on an account called “Logan Paul Vlogs”. Paul’s channel, full of videos of himself and his friends doing crazy activities, boasts 15 million subscribers and viewers from all across the world follow him as he lives his life.
On December 31, 2017, Paul and his friends ventured into Japan’s Aokigahara forest, otherwise known as the Sea of Trees or the Japanese Suicide Forest. He explained that his plan was for him and his friends to go camping in this forest and spend the night there. This plan fell apart very quickly, though, because as they were exploring, they saw a man hanging from a rope in a tree, dead.
Rather than calling the police, Paul’s first course of action was to record his reaction as he walked closer to the corpse. After a while, Paul finally decided to alert the police about what they discovered.
Since it was uploaded, the internet has erupted with videos and news stories about the video. Despite Paul’s denial, many people claim that he only posted the video as clickbait for views. In my opinion, Paul Logan definitely exploited this man’s suicide to get more views and publicity.
First of all, you aren’t supposed to be going inside that forest in the first place. He wasn’t supposed to be there anyway, yet he continued to enter and record all about the forest. Second of all, if you were ever to find a dead body in a forest, the first thing you should try to do is call the police or get someone of higher authority to handle the situation. You should not record yourself venturing closer to the body and reacting to the fact that you just saw somebody who decided that they didn’t want to live their life anymore. Finally, everything would have been fine if he just kept the video to himself and didn’t upload it, but he decided to post it online for the entire world to see.
This video will never go away, either. If you search up “Logan Paul in Suicide Forest” on YouTube, hundreds of videos will pop up from people who downloaded his original post. This poor decision will follow him around for the rest of his life.
Then there’s the fact that he said that he posted this video to “promote suicide awareness”. If you wanted to promote suicide awareness, there are much more simple and appropriate ways to do so. It was immature and foolish of Logan Paul to upload this video onto YouTube and even though he apologized, he can’t take back what he did.
