Cam Newton’s sexist comment

Dead silence swarmed the room on Wednesday when the Carolina Panthers quarterback, Cam Newton made an inexcusable comment to a female sportswriting reporter. After being asked a question on football routes by the reporter, Jourdan Rodrigue, Newton began to laugh. “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes,” Newton said. He followed that comment with many smirks and then began to answer the question.

“I don’t think it’s funny to be a female and talk about routes. I think it’s my job.” Rodrigue is a successful reporter that was only there to do her job. She was right, it’s the 21st Century and sexist comments should not be stated

As stated on Twitter, Rodrigue confronted Newton after the press conference.. Apparently after she approached him, he still didn’t apologize. NFL has taken it into their own hands to say Newton’s response was, “unfortunate and out of line.”

Oikos yogurt, one of Newton’s sponsors was very shocked by his statement. They announced that they will no longer be working with him. Oikos yogurt goes on to talk about his response as, “plain wrong and disrespectful”. Newton’s marketing agent has still not responded to a request for comments.

Earlier today, Newton went to Twitter to finally apologize for his arrogant response. In the tweet he talks about how he is a man trying to be a good role model to his community and inspire others. “What I did was extremely unacceptable. I’m a father to two beautiful daughters and, at their age, I try to instil in them that they can do an be anything that they want to be.”

“I’ve already lost sponsors and countless fans, I learned the joke is on me and I’ve learned a valuable lesson.” Newton obviously realized to think before he speaks.

Newton deserved to have lost his sponsors for that comment. He’s a professional football player and there is just some morals and responsibilities he should be standing when dealing with press. It’s good if Newton did really learn his lesson, but I don’t feel bad about the consequences he’s facing.
