After School Weight Training

After School Weight Training

Jake Lamarra

Students who plan to play football in the 2011 season–or who just want to stay in shape–should go to after school weight training. Students can earn five credits since it counts as a 7th period class. Weight training improves size, speed, and strength for the upcoming football season. Ralph Enriquez, varsity offensive lineman, said, “I like going to weights because everybody learns to work together as a team.” Since he started weight training, he has dramatically increased his 1-rep max (the maximum weight he can lift one time) for the bench press. In two years he has gone from 135 lbs. to 245 lbs. Weight training is open to everyone, and can be helpful for any student who needs to make up P.E. or elective credits. Students can get credits if they start going before April 22nd
