Vandalism strikes over weekend
April Fools is long gone, yet it seems there may still be some pranking going on — of the expensive variety.
Jim Marrone, Tom Orosco, and Roger Esparza tried to enter their classrooms in the B and C-wings this morning only to find the doors egged and the locks superglued shut.
“This is going to cost the district thousands,” Marrone said.
Each lock, according to the men working to open the doors, will cost about $125, plus the district will have to pay for their labor.
Classes for the three teachers had to be moved today to the R-wing because of the vandalism
Being that he and the other two teachers that were affected teach seniors, Marrone assumes that it is seniors trying to continue an annual tradition.
“I’m all for senior pranks,” he said. “But vandalism is just not fun.”
Because they couldn’t enter their rooms, Marrone, Orosco, and Esparza also lost the access to their lesson plans.
“Our whole day is thrown off,” Marrone said.
Assistant Principal Gamal Salama refuses to punish the entire senior class out of speculation and would not do so even if seniors are responsible.
It will take time, but, he said, “We’ll continue to investigate using the cameras. I’m confident we’ll find the individual who did this.”
The police have been contacted and the consequences for these actions include possibly being arrested or at least cited and also having to pay for the damages.
