On Wednesday, December 4, a collision occurred on Rose Marie Lane involving two vehicles, causing one car to flip upside down and another to steer into nearby bushes. A Stagg student, Jacob Franco, was a passenger the overturned vehicle, and while they were taken by ambulances, no serious injuries were reported.
Franco, a junior here at Stagg, was riding with his aunt in a Honda CR-V when the collision happened. “I heard a big screech, I felt a big thud and the car started rolling, and then after that I got out.” Franco didn’t report any stress or trauma at the time, but his main priority was getting out of the car, which he and his aunt were able to do.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were called and arrived at the scene shortly after. Students and staff also gathered quickly to assist in managing the situation. Franco was taken to the hospital in an ambulance but was not injured, and besides a bump on his aunt’s head there were no major injuries.
Campus security monitor CSM Alejandro Ochoa was on the scene. Later, he said ¨We immediately noticed that the traffic was getting backed up, we immediately started to control traffic.¨ This allowed the surrounding traffic to get back to normal and give space to the people and first responders.
A student was approached for their involvement in the collision but declined an interview.
