The fight started off with both fighters having an introduction showing them training for the fight, as well as some quick clips from their fights; they also included Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano clips, since they were the second main event.
Outcome:
The fight resulted in Jake Paul winning by unanimous decision. The first round and second round were in Tysons favor; after that, it started going downhill. It started to look like he was slowing down. Jake Paul, seeing that he took advantage, started throwing punches, which ended up helping him in punch stats. He threw 278 punches and landed 78 when Tyson threw 97 punches and only landed 18. Their updated records now change to Jake’s 11 wins and 1 loss and Tysons 50 wins and 7th loss.
How was this fight brought up?
There’s no info about how they planned it. Jake and Tyson met and Tyson called Jake ,Logan which rubbed him the wrong way. It was just announced by Jake Paul on Twitter, “I idolized Mike Tyson until the first time I met him 4 years ago… he called me Logan. Going to make sure he knows who I am, real close and personal.” As well as making a YouTube video called “I’m Fighting Mike Tyson.”
After this, they started hyping up the fight by trash talking each other with tweets, soon after Tyson was on his flight for the fight in July 20, but he got an ulcer flare which made the fight get postponed to November 15, soon after they continue beefing.
Then on November 14, they had an altercation in their weigh-ins, where Jake stepped on Tyson’s feet, and that triggered Tyson to slap him. This made the fight more exciting for fight night the next day.
What both fighters gained from the fight:
Netflix hasn’t disclosed how much both parties were paid, but some indicate that Jake Paul was paid around $40 million to get in the ring in addition to Mike Tyson taking $20 million home. Jake Paul’s pay was found out during the press conference, where he stated “I’m here to make 40 million and knock out a legend.” This statement made it pretty clear he was getting paid around $40 million. Opinions:
In my opinion, this fight was predictable. You can’t expect a legend to stay in their prime at 58 when their prime was around 20–25. Others say that Jake Paul held back in addition to them saying that Tyson’s legs have left him. And saying that the fight was scripted or, quote, the script got leaked, which is completely false nothing in the script actually happened in the fight.
Results of Netflix streaming:
Netflix averaged 65 million viewers they expected to get more, but bad freezes, stutters and quality issues affected that. Nonetheless, they called it “record-breaking night.”
