Francisco Ortigoza is the starting quarterback at Stagg high school. He is a senior and has played all four years. He said, “To be a starter, you have to be mentally tough and you have to work hard. You have to learn how to be a leader because the quarterback is one of the most important players in football. Your teammates look up to you and count on you.” Ortigoza also said, “There is a great amount of pressure on you and everybody expects a lot of you.” Francisco is an athlete that plays a sport after every other sport. He plays until that sport is done, so he can keep on playing and try out different sports. He is not just the quarterback, he is the punter and the backup kicker.
Francisco plays three main sports here at Stagg: football, basketball, and golf. When it comes to basketball Francisco is dedicated to the sport. He said, “Basketball is a hard sport and you have to be in great shape to run up and down the court for a long period of time.” Ortigoza mentions that “Playing sports keeps me out of trouble and keeps my grades up, so I can continue playing sports.”
