Stagg Alumni Association president, Stewart Jacoby, class of 1965, reunited with his home school to teach in the Social Science department in 2001. During Jacoby’s 14 years of teaching, he approached different issues, “Around 2010, the district, SUSD, was no longer able to buy principles with the fund of money.”
During a reunion for the Stagg Class of ’65, Jacoby spoke up for a system to raise money that would go towards campus related programs. “We started a board and went through the process of becoming a non-profit organization under tax laws,” Jacoby said. Hence, the beginning of the Alumni Association Board.
“Our primary purpose is to raise money from Alumni to be used on campus by teachers and staff as they have programs that they need to fund,” said Jacoby. “We have in our bylaws three purposes, one is to support positive public image of Stagg, one is to nurture the community of Stagg students, and one is to support opportunities for enrich learning.”
