Protest in Sacramento

A protest regarding the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man led to the gathering o demonstrators blocking the entrance to the Golden 1 Center led to police cancelling the Sacramento Kings game Thursday night.

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the arena and formed a human wall, preventing fans from entering the stadium to watch the game and causing a vast emptiness of seats inside.

The protesters chanted “Stepon Clark,” the name of the man who was shot to death in his grandmother’s backyard, where he was living at the time, Sunday night after police responded to a 911 call about a man breaking a car’s window. The officers believed Clark had a gun, when in reality it was his phone.
The video released Wednesday night by the Sacramento Police Department shows the last seconds of Clark’s life as he’s being pursued by officers, and eventually the sparks of gunshots.

Clark is the 6th person to be killed by the Sacramento Police Department since 2015, with 5 people being black and the other white.
