To graduate high school in the state of California, one would need:
–Three years of English
-Two years of Mathematics, including one year of Algebra
-Two years of science, biological and physical science
-Three years of social studies/history
-One year of foreign language or art
-Two years of physical education
-Completion of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)
– 230 credits
That’s to graduate high school at the lowest requirements. Use this if you plan to work after high school. If you plan to go to a four year college, then you will need:
-Four years of English
-Three years of Mathematics, four recommended
-Three years of social studies/history
-Two years of science with lab required, three recommended
-Two years in same language, three recommended
-One year of visual and performing arts
-One year of electives
Those are the UC requirements for freshman. A general rule of thumb is to do the absolute best you can do.
