Building stamina in the fall and making goals in the spring, sophomore Veronica Ramirez just can’t quit even under the worst circumstances.

Being interactive with sports at a young age like most people, Ramirez has had more than a little experience in the sport she shows interest for the most—soccer. Ramirez started playing soccer her freshman year and has enjoyed it even with the little experience she has.

Having their first tournament at Woodland, Ramirez was feeling the pressure from not playing soccer for a while. Coach Hector Rodriguez and Alfredo Rodriguez former coaches of Ramirez put her in as forward, a position she had never played before. Ramirez talked about how she was freaking out before the game that she asked other girls for advice.

“I told myself, maybe if I just stay calm it’ll come to me,” Ramirez said.

She said she just stood there until the ball came to her and when it did Ramirez went out of her comfort zone to score a goal.

The week of their game against Cesar Chavez high school Ramirez had injured her hamstring and she wasn’t supposed to play but she did. Being put on a position she didn’t know how to play is not as bad as playing on an injured hamstring she said.  Starting off a bad day with being injured it ended up being a good evening for Ramirez because she made a goal.
