For junior Alex Herrera, soccer has been a large part of his life since he could remember. He has been playing soccer since he was five years old. Herrera plays for the Stagg Varsity Boys soccer team.

“I like playing soccer, because I’m good at it,” Herrera said. “Soccer gives me another family — a family away from home.”

Alex doesn’t just play one position, he plays every position on the field except for goalkeeper and forward. Stagg’s Varsity soccer has a record of 9-1, winning only one game.  Alex assisted 2 goals in this game.

Herrera uses soccer as his motivation to stay involved in school. In order to play he has to maintain a GPA of a 2.0 or higher which helps him keep his grades up.

Although the team did not has the best season this year, Herrera is looking forward to a better one next year.
